Second Brain Connector
A personal automation bridge between Gmail and a private Obsidian vault.
Second Brain Connector is a single-user tool built and operated by Ryan Kaufman. It reads messages the owner has starred in his own Gmail accounts, extracts the substantive content — decisions, commitments, and context — and files it into a private, locally-stored Obsidian knowledge vault. No one other than the owner uses this tool, and it does not serve, store, or process data on behalf of any other person.
What it does, in practice
Owner stars a message in Gmail → the tool reads that message via the Gmail API → extracts key information → writes a note into the owner's personal vault → applies a label back on the source message so it is never re-processed.

02 — Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Second Brain Connector integration and applies solely to its owner, Ryan Kaufman, who is also its only user.
What is accessed
The tool accesses Gmail message content, sender/recipient metadata, and label/star state, strictly limited to messages the owner has manually starred. It does not scan, read, or act on any message the owner has not deliberately flagged.
How data is used
Extracted content (decisions, commitments, sender context) is written to a personal Obsidian vault stored on the owner's own local and external storage. Data never leaves systems the owner directly controls, is never transmitted to a third-party server for storage, and is never used for advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond the owner's personal knowledge management.
Data sharing
No data accessed through this integration is sold, licensed, shared, or otherwise disclosed to any third party. There are no other users, so there is no scenario in which one user's data could be exposed to another.
Google API Services User Data Policy
This tool's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data retention and deletion
Extracted notes persist in the owner's private vault until the owner manually deletes them. Revoking this app's access at any time (Google Account → Security → Third-party access) immediately stops all further access; it does not retroactively delete notes already written to the vault, which remain under the owner's sole control.

Terms of Service
Second Brain Connector is provided as a personal-use tool, built by its own operator for its own operator. By authorizing this application against a Gmail account, the owner agrees to the following:
Single-user tool
This application is not distributed, is not offered to the public, and has exactly one user — its owner, Ryan Kaufman. It is not a commercial product and carries no service-level guarantee.
No warranty
The tool is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. The owner bears full responsibility for any consequence of running it against his own accounts.
Scope of action
The tool only reads and modifies messages the owner has manually starred, and only applies labels or removes stars as part of its own processing marker system. It never sends, deletes, or forwards email on the owner's behalf.
Changes
As a personal tool, these terms may be revised at any time by the owner without prior notice, since the owner and the sole affected party are the same person.
